Hey guys, just a quick post to let you know the show isn’t going to be streamed any more, unless it’s a special occasion and we can make it work well enough. The main reason for this is that my internet connection’s upstream speed is pitifully slow, and can’t maintain the full setup at a decent quality. My setup, for those who want to know, is as follows:
- I have my PC initiate a Skype call to Brandon
- I then add my MacBook to the call
- The entire call, as my PC is hearing it, is transmitted to Ustream
As an extra bit, all the sound effects and music are played through VLC on my PC, which is set to output to a virtual “line cable”, which Skype listens on for my microphone. This is so me and Brandon can hear it. In order for Ustream to “hear” it, it’s also output to the same “audio cable” as the Skype call.
This worked in the past, and we got reasonable quality from it. For some reason Telstra, my ISP, acknowledges that I should be getting more than the pathetic 30KB/s upstream speed, but as soon as they can’t fix it in one call they backtrack and say that everything is working normally. We’ll still be putting the show out but it will be prerecorded, at least until I can work something out to get it fixed.
In other news, this weeks episode should be pretty good. Harukaze/SCANDAL SHOW reviews, and a new section I’ve wanted to do for a bit. No guest as of yet, but we’ll make it work!
